If you just really love technical things and helping people but would get bored if you had to look after the exact same IT environment day after day then have a closer look at this role.

It's a busy service desk with plenty of customers and lots of support jobs coming through all the time. So you'll need to be competent in moving through support tickets and remaining focussed but also enjoy speaking to customers on the phone and helping them out. There's other who can help you but if you are easily overwhelmed then this role isn't for you.

However if you love to learn on the job and on the fly and thrive on swimming when thrown in the deep end, then you'll learn a lot and grow a lot in this role in a short period of time. 

This company has created a really effective support model for a niche market which they have then expanded to a wider client base. The company has about 14 people, big enough to be effective, small enough to be valued for what you do. The owner is a really great guy, easy to get on with and down to earth. 

What you'll need is...

  • A great phone manner
  • Keenness to grow in a Managed Services Provider
  • Experience with small and medium business preferred
  • A strong technology skill set with experience in Windows Server 2008, 2012 & SBS; Exchange; Vmware, etc viewed very positively
  • Great diagnostic and trouble shooting skills
  • Outstanding verbal communication abilities (this is not optional)
  • The ability to nurture relationships with customers

Attention to detail, doing a job well, and being passionate about desktop and server support are what we are looking for here. You will need to have outstanding customer service and communication skills, be able to work in a team and have solid, broad tech skills. If you work for or have worked for a Managed Services Provider or IT company looking after small and medium sized businesses then you are in the box seat for this role.

Reasonable support experience with the following technologies are needed or desired–

  • Windows Desktops in AD environments
  • Windows Server 2008 - 2012 - admin/support experience
  • Exchange -  support/admin
  • Office 365 experience - support/admin
  • Active Directory, Group Policy - support/admin
  • Have some IT based certs or have studied a related discipline
    at Uni e.g MCP and ITIL
  • A really, really good handle on stuff like software installation,
    Office products, Windows 7 -10 etc
  • Great diagnostic and trouble shooting skills

Outstanding interpersonal skills at all levels of business

  • Ability to work in a team
  • A robust sense of humour.
  • Results driven work ethic.
  • Experience with ticket and time billing products and remote monitoring tools. 
  • Genuine server experience will put you at the head of the pack, so if you've got it, highlight it. Relevant certs are also great, so again, make sure we don't miss those.
