Technical Account Manager

  • Location Osborne Park, WA
  • Salary A$100k/year - 140k/year
  • Job Type Full Time
  • Posted September 12, 2024

Can you see your self in a management role some day? Stuck in support for today but one day, in management?

What if that one day was today?

Perhaps your calling isn’t techincal. You know you’re a people person, you love the challenge of technical problems but you’re not inspired to put in the hours of study and certiifcations needed to be a detail oriented Senior engineer or Architect. What you really love is the feedback from the client when you fix that niggling problem. Or the praise you get when you’re the first person that’s had the patience to walk them through how to use a piece of software they need.

So think of that feeling of satisfaction and then amplify it.

What if you were the person your clients came to with all their technology problems. I’m not talking about PDF’s not opening but the larger questions around how they improve internal workflows, can and should they be using AI in their business, and should they move more of their infrastructure into the cloud, and should that be private or public cloud?

As a Technical Account Manager at this MSP you would own that relationship and be the go-to person for all their broader technical solutions.

Why would this interest you?

  • You don’t need any prior account management experience
  • It’s an immediate step into a client management role with a manager title
  • You would skip your career ahead several steps at once, if you plan to end up in IT management anyway.
  • It requires broad IT knowledge in cloud, systems infrastructure and M365 but no implementation knowledge is needed
  • It’s all about building relationships with people and listening to them
  • Problem solving is still at the core of what you’ll be doing for your clients.

We’re looking for someone who is currently doing IT support in an MSP environment but would love to accelerate their career into a client management role.

What would you be doing?

  • Managing the relationship with about 15 small/medium business clients
  • Looking for opportunities to solve problems within their busines through IT
  • Write basic proposals for new solutions/projects based on existing templates and with the help of a technical team and a sales administrator
  • Manage the contract renewal process for your clients managed services contract
  • Meet regularly with your clients to go through service reports and ongoing issues or projects
  • Help create and manage the Solutions Roadmap for your clients to keep improving their IT maturity

But you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll have the support of technical people and a sales administrator to bring the Proposals and Technology Roadmaps to completion.

This role is not admin heavy. It’s relationship heavy. It will use your people skills and your technical mindset to develop and deliver solutions for your clients with the help of an A team of professionals.

I repeat, you do not need previous account management experience, just a people focus, and a willingness to build relationships over time and listen with the view to solving problems.

If you’re still unsure, apply anyway or reach out to me personally and I can have a confidential chat with you about it.
